הקדמה בעה״י בשנת תשכ׳׳ב פרסמתי את ספדי תוספתא כפשוטה לסדר מועד, וכבר עברו כחמש שנים מיום הופעתם של החלקים לסדר הנ״ל. הופעת ספרי הנ״ל נתעכבה לרגלי סיבות שונות, עיין בהקדמתי לגוף התוספתא סדר נשים. והנני חוזר על מה שכתבתי בהקדמה לסדר מועד: הואיל ולא זכיתי שמלאכתי תיעשה ע״י אחרים, הדי טבעי הדבר שחיבור הספר נמשך יותר ממה שחשבתי בתחילה. ואני מוסיף כאן שאף ההדפסה עצמה נמשכה כשנה וחצי. בנתי ם הופיעו ספרים חדשים ומאמרים, ונסיתי כפי יכולתי להכניס את דבריהם בפירושי, אם בתורף דבריהם, או בציץ גרידא, הכל לפי מצב העמודים בדפים של ספרי לנשים. ואני מגיח שכמה מהם נעלמו ממני ולא הגיעו לידי. אם אמרתי כאן שלא זכיתי שמלאכתי תיעשה ע״י אחרים, הדי כוונתי לעיקר הפירוש ולאוסף החומר שבו, וכן לרוב רובה של העבודה הטכנית, אבל ידידיי פרופ׳ הרוד׳ז דימיטרובסקי והרב ר׳ יהושע העשיל באבד קראו את עלי ההגהה האחרונה המעומדת והסירו כמה מטעיות הדפוס שנשארו אחדי הגהתי. הם גם העמידו אותי לפעמים על חוסר בדוד בפירושי, ובהוספה של מלה אחת הדברים נעשו ברורים. יתברכו מן השמים. מסדרי האותיות של בית הדפוס של ד׳׳ר משה יעקבס, המפקח על העבודה דוד סקרטון, שמואל אייזמאן, יצחק אריה הופמאן, דוב ) בעריל( הלפאנד, מאיר ווייציל, ד״ר יעקב פראנק, אפרים פישל הערשטיין, עשו את מלאכתם במסירות ובאמונה, והמגיה ד״ר מנחם ג. גלן הגדיל לעשות. יעמדו כולם על הברכה. הספד יצא לאור בסיוע קרן משה ) גוסטאוו( וורצוויילער. למנהלי הקרן ברכה וטיבותא רבה. ואחרון אחרון לידידי הרב ר׳ אליעזר ארי׳ הלוי פינקלשטין, נגיד ביה״מ שלנו, שהיה הגורם העיקרי לחיבור הפירוש שהופיע עד כאן, לכתיבתו ולהופעתו ברכות בכל לשק ש ל ברבה. ש. ל. ה
