557nevi’im 1 SAMUEL  16.5 and said: ‘ Comest thou peaceably?’ [ 5] And he said: ‘ Peaceably; I am come to sacrifice unto the Lord; sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice.’ And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice. [ 6] And it came to pass, when they were come, that he beheld Eliab, and said: ‘ Surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him.’ [ 7] But the Lord said unto Samuel: ‘ Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him; for it is not as man seeth: for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.’ [ 8] Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said: ‘ Neither hath the Lord chosen this.’ [ 9] Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said: ‘ Neither hath the Lord chosen this.’ [ 10] And Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse: ‘ The Lord hath not chosen these.’ [ 11] And Samuel said unto Jesse: ‘ Are here all thy children?’ And he said: ‘ There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep.’ And Samuel said unto Jesse: ‘ Send and fetch him; for we will not sit down till he come hither.’ [ 12] And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of beautiful eyes, and goodly to look upon. And the Lord said: ‘ Arise, anoint him; for this is he.’ [ 13] Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren; and the spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah. [ 14] Now the spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord terrified him. [ 15] And Saul’s servants said unto him: ‘ Behold now, an evil spirit from God terrifieth thee. [ 16] Let our lord now command thy servants, that are before thee, to seek out a man who is a skilful player on the harp; and it shall be, when the evil spirit from God cometh upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.’ [ 17] And Saul said unto his servants: ‘ Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.’ [ 18] Then answered one of the young men, and said: ‘ Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Beth- lehemite, that is 16 ‡ χ ÂÓ ˘ Ìȇ  È ·  557 È ˙ ¦ ‡ a ¨ ½ Ɖ  ¨ ‰ ÈÏ « © Á © Ÿa ³ Ê § Ï ¦ ÌBÏÀ L ¨ | ¯ Ó¤ ‡ Ÿi ´  © 5 Lc ³ ¥ ˜ © È §  © Á · © ® f ¨ a © Èz− ¦ ‡ ¦ Ì ˙ ¬ ¤ ‡ · ¨ e eL ½ c § ˜ © ˙ § ‰ « ¦ : Á · © f « ¨ Ï © ̉−¤ Ï ¨ ‡ ¯ ¬ ¨ ˜ § i ¦  © ÂÈ  ¨ ½ a ¨ - ˙ ‡ ¤  § ÆÈL © È ¦ - ˙ ‡ ¤ ¯ Ó¤ ‡ Ÿi ¾  © · ‡ ® ¨ ÈÏ ¦ ‡ ¡ - ˙ ‡ ¤ ‡ ¯ § − i ©  © ̇ ¨ ½ B · a § ȉ ´ ¦ È §  © 6 ‰  ¹ ¨ ‰ È § ¯ Ó¤ ‡ Ÿi ¸  © 7 : BÁ « ÈL ¦ Ó § ‰−  ¨ ‰ È § „‚¤ ¬  ¤ C‡ ² © - χ¤  § e‰ ² ‡ ¥ ¯ § Ó © - χ¤ Ë ¯ a¥ z © - χ © χ¥ À eÓL § - χ ¤ ¯ L ³ ¤ ‡£ ‡ ŸÏÀ | Èk ´ ¦ e‰ Èz ® ¦ Ò § ‡ © Ó § Èk ´ ¦ B ˙ − Ó ¨ B ˜ d © Ÿ · ¬ b § ÌÈ ¦  © ½ ÈÚ¥ Ï © ‰‡ ´ ¤ ¯ § È ¦ ÆÌ„ ¨ ‡ ¨ ‰ « ¨ Èk ³ ¦ Ì„ ½ ¨ ‡ ¨ ‰ ¨ Ɖ‡¤ ¯ § È ¦ - χ¤ ÆÈL © È ¦ ‡ ¯ ³ ¨ ˜ § i ¦  © 8 : · · « ¨ l¥ Ï © ‰ ¬ ‡ ¤ ¯ § È ¦ ‰−  ¨ ‰ È © ¯ Ó¤ ‡ Ÿi ¾  © χ ® ¥ eÓL § È ´  ¥ Ù § Ï ¦ e‰ ¯ − ¥ · ¦ Ú£ i ©  © · „ ½ ¨  ¨ È · ´ ¦ ‡ £ ÈL− © È ¦ ¯ ¬ · ¥ Ú£ i ©  © 9 :‰  « ¨ ‰ È § ¯ Á ¬ © · ¨ - ‡ ŸÏ « ‰− ʤ a ¨ - Ìb © :‰  « ¨ ‰ È § ¯ Á ¬ © · ¨ - ‡ ŸÏ ‰− ʤ a ¨ - Ìb © ¯ Ó¤ ‡ Ÿi ¾  © ‰ n ® ¨ L © χ ® ¥ eÓL § È ´  ¥ Ù § Ï ¦ ÂÈ−  ¨ a ¨ ˙ ¬ Ú © · § L ¦ È ² L © È ¦ ¯ ¬ · ¥ Ú£ i ©  © 10 ‰−  ¨ ‰ È § ¯ Á ¬ © · ¨ - ‡ ŸÏ ÈL © ½ È ¦ - χ¤ Æχ¥ eÓL § ¯ Ó¤ ‡ Ÿi ³  © en ˙ ´ © ‰ £ » ÈL © È ¦ - χ¤ χ ´ ¥ eÓL § ¯ Ó¤ ‡ Ÿi ¸  © 11 :‰ l¤ ‡ « ¥ a ¨ ‰ ¬ p¥‰ ¦  § ÔË ¨ ½ w ¨ ‰ © ¯ ‡ ´ © L ¨ „ BÚμ ¯ Ó¤ ‡ ŸiÀ © ¼ ÌÈ ¯ ¦ Ú ¨ p § ‰ © ÆÈL © È ¦ - χ¤ χ ³ ¥ eÓL § ¯ Ó¤ ‡ Ÿi ¸  © Ô‡ Ÿv ® a © ‰ Ú−¤ Ÿ ¯ :‰ ŸÙ « B‡ ¬ Ÿa- „ Ú © · ŸÒ−  ¨ - ‡ ŸÏ È ¬ k ¦ epÁ¤ ½ ˜ ¨  § ‰ Á ´ ¨ Ï § L ¦ ‰ ¬ Ù¥ È § - ÌÚ ¦ È  ½ ¦ BÓ„ § ‡ © ‡ e‰ ´  § Æe‰‡ Æ¥ È · ¦ È §  © Á ³ Ï © L § i ¦  © 12 ٠ȇ ¦ Ÿ ¯ ® · BË ´  § ÌÈ ¦ −  © ÈÚ¥ :‡ e‰ « ‰ ¬ ʤ- Èk « ¦ e‰ Á−¥ L ¨ Ó § Ìe ˜ ¬ ‰ ²  ¨ ‰ È § ¯ Ó¤ ‡ Ÿi ¯  © ÁL ´ © Ó § i ¦  © ÔÓ¤ M¤ À ‰ © Ô ¯ ¤ ˜ ´ ¤ - ˙ ‡ ¤ χ¥ ¹ eÓL § Áw ¸ © i ¦  © 13 - χ¤ Ɖ  ¨ ‰ È § - Á © e ¯ « Á ³ Ï © ˆ § z ¦  © ¼ ÂÈÁ ¨ ‡ ¤ · ¯ ¤ ˜ ´ ¤ a § » B ˙ Ÿ‡ χ¥ ½ eÓL § Ì ˜ ¨ ´ i ¨  © ‰ Ï ¨ Ú § Ó ® ¨  ¨ ‡ e‰− ‰ © ÌBi ¬ ‰ © Ó¥ „  ½ ¦ c ¨ ‰ ¯ ¨ Ò− ¨ ‰ ²  ¨ ‰ È § Á © e ¯ ¯  § 14 Ò : ‰ ˙ ¨ Ó « ¨ ¯ ¨ ‰ ¨ CϤ − i¥  © ˙ ¬ ‡ ¥ Ó¥ ‰ Ú− ¨ ¯ ¨ - Á © e ¯ « ez ˙ ¬ © Ú£ · « ¦ e Ïe‡ ® L ¨ ÌÚ ´ ¦ Ó¥ -‰ p¥‰ ¦ ÂÈ ® Ï ¨ ‡ ¥ Ïe‡− L ¨ - È„ « ¥ · § Ú © e ¯ ¬ Ó § ‡ Ÿi © 15 :‰  « ¨ ‰ È § - ¯ Ó © ‡ ŸÈ 16 : Ez « ¤ Ú ¦ · © Ó § ‰ Ú− ¨ ¯ ¨ Ìȉ ² ¦ ŸÏ‡ ¡ - Á © e ¯ « ‡ ¯  ¨ Ú © „ −¥ ŸÈ Lȇ ¾ ¦ eL ¾ ˜ § · © È § EÈ  ¤ ½ Ù ¨ Ï § EÈ„ ´ ¤ · ¨ Ú£ Æe   ¥ ÆŸ„‡£ ‡ ³  ¨ - Á © e ¯ « EÈ ³ Ϥ Ú ¨ ˙ BÈ ¸ ‰ § a « ¦ ‰ È ¨ À‰ ¨  § ¯ Bp ® k ¦ a © Ô ´ b¥  © Ó § Ù : CÏ « ¨ · BË ¬  § B„− È ¨ a § Ô ¬ b¥  ¦  § ‰ Ú ¨ ½ ¯ ¨ ÆÌȉ ¦ ŸÏ‡ ¡ ÈÏ ¦ À ‡ ´  ¨ - e‡ ¯ § ÂÈ„ ® ¨ · ¨ Ú£- χ¤ Ïe‡− L ¨ ¯ Ó¤ ‡ Ÿi ¬  © 17 ÁÔÚ © i ©  © 18 : ÈÏ « ¨ ‡ ¥ Ì ˙ − ¤ B‡ È · ¦ ‰ £  © Ôb¥ ½  © Ï § · ÈË ´ ¦ ÈÓ¥ Lȇ ¦ μ Book   |   Chapter Home  | TOC
