nevi’im  JUDGES 492 city, even in Ophrah; and all Israel went astray after it there; and it became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house. [ 28] So Midian was subdued before the children of Israel, and they lifted up their heads no more. And the land had rest forty years in the days of Gideon. [ 29] And Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and dwelt in his own house. [ 30] And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten; for he had many wives. [ 31] And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bore him a son, and he called his name Abimelech. [ 32] And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. [ 33] And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel again went astray after the Baalim, and made Baal- berith their god. [ 34] And the children of Israel remembered not the Lord their God, who had delivered them out of the hand of all their enemies on every side; [ 35] neither showed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, namely Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had shown unto Israel. 9 And Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem unto his mother’s brethren, and spoke with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother’s father, saying: [ 2] ‘ Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem: Which is better for you, that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are threescore and ten persons, rule over you, or that one rule over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.’ [ 3] And his mother’s brethren spoke of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words; and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said: ‘ He is our brother.’ [ 4] And they gave him threescore and ten pieces of silver out of the house of Baal- berith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light fellows, who followed him. [ 5] And he went unto his father’s house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being threescore and ten persons, 8 ÌÈËÙ ˘ Ìȇ  È ·  492 e  ¯ Ê § i ¦  © ‰ ¯ ½ ¨ Ù § Ú ¨ a § ÆB ¯ ÈÚ ¦ · § B ˙ ³ B‡ ‚ v¥ ¸ i ©  © „ BÙÀ ‡¥ Ï § ÔBÚ ¬ „ § ‚ ¦ Ï § ȉ ² ¦ È §  © ÌL ® ¨ ÂÈ ¯ − ¨ Á£ ‡ © Ï ² ‡ ¥ ¯ ¨ N § È ¦ - ÏÎ « ¨ È ´  ¥ a § ÆÈ  ¥ Ù § Ï ¦ ÔÈ ¨ À„ § Ó ¦ Ú ´  © k ¨ i ¦  © 28 : L ˜ « ¥ BÓÏ § B ˙ − È · ¥ Ï § e ËŸ ˜ ¬ L § z ¦  © ÌL ® ¨ ‡ Ÿ ¯ ˙ ‡ N ´ ¥ Ï ¨ eÙ− Ò § È ¨ ‡ ŸÏ ¬  § χ¥ ½ ¯ ¨ N § È ¦ Ù : ÔBÚ « „ § ‚ ¦ È ¬ Ó¥ Èa ¦ ‰−  ¨ L ¨ ÌÈÚ ¬ ¦ a ¨ ¯ § ‡ © ץ ¯ ¤ ‡ ² ¨ ‰ ¨ : B ˙ « È · ¥ a § · L¤ ¬ i¥  © L‡− ¨ BÈ- Ôa¤ ÏÚ © ¬ a © ¯ ª È § CϤ ² i¥  © 29 BÎ ® ¯ ¥ È § ȇ−¥ ˆ § ŸÈ ÌÈ  ½ ¦ a ¨ ÌÈÚ ´ ¦ · § L ¦ Æeȉ ¨ ÔBÚÀ „ § ‚ ¦ Ï § e 30 ¯ L ´ ¤ ‡£ ÆBL‚ § Ï © ÈÙ « ¦ e 31 : BÏ « eÈ ¬ ‰ ¨ ˙ Ba− ¯ © ÌÈL ¬ ¦  ¨ - Èk « ¦ - ˙ ‡ ¤ ÌN¤ ¬ i ¨  © Ôa ® ¥ ‡ ȉ− ¦ - Ì‚ © Bl ¬ - ‰„ ¨ Ï § È « ¨ ÌΤ ½ L § a ¦ L‡− ¨ BÈ- Ôa¤ ÔBÚ ¬ „ § b ¦ ˙ Ó ¨ ² i ¨  © 32 : CϤ Ó « ¤ È · ¦ ‡ £ BÓ− L § ÂÈ · ½ ¦ ‡ ¨ L‡ ´ ¨ BÈ Æ ¯ · ¤ ˜ Ƥ a § ¯ · ¥ À w ¨ i ¦  © ‰ ® · ¨ BË ‰ ´ · ¨ ÈN¥ a § Ù : È ¯ « ¦ Ê § Ú¤ ‰ « ¨ È ¬ · ¦ ‡ £ ‰ ¯ − ¨ Ù § Ú ¨ a § È ´  ¥ a § Æe · eLÆ i ¨  © ÔBÚ ½ „ § b ¦ ˙ Ó ´ ¥ Æ ¯ L¤ ‡£ k « © ȉ À ¦ È §  © 33 Ì ² ‰ ¤ Ï ¨ eÓÈN ¯ ¦ i ¨  © ÌÈÏ ® ¦ Ú ¨ a § ‰ © È ¯ ´ ¥ Á£ ‡ © e  − Ê § i ¦  © χ¥ ½ ¯ ¨ N § È ¦ È ´  ¥ a § Æe ¯ Î § Ê « ¨ ‡ ŸÏ ³  § 34 : Ìȉ « ¦ ŸÏ‡ Ï¥ ˙ È ¯ − ¦ a § ÏÚ © ¬ a © ÏÈv ¬ ¦ n © ‰ © Ì ® ‰ ¤ ȉ¥ ŸÏ‡¡ ‰−  ¨ ‰ È § - ˙ ‡ ¤ χ ¥ ½ ¯ ¨ N § È ¦ - ‡ ŸÏ «  § 35 : · È · « ¦ q ¨ Ó ¦ ̉−¤ È · ¥ È § Ÿ‡- Ïk ¨ „ ¬ i © Ó ¦ Ì ˙ ² ¨ B‡ - ÏÎ ¨ k § ÔBÚ ® „ § b ¦ ÏÚ © a− © ¯ ª È § ˙ È ¬ a¥- ÌÚ ¦ „ Ò¤ Á¤ ½ eN ´ Ú ¨ Ù : χ « ¥ ¯ ¨ N § È ¦ - ÌÚ ¦ ‰ N− ¨ Ú ¨ ¯ ¬ L¤ ‡ £ ‰ · ¨ ½ Bh‰ © ‰ Ó ¨ Τ ½ L § ÆÏÚ © a © Æ ¯ ª È § - Ôa¤ CϤ Ó ³ ¤ È · ¦ ‡ £ CϤ i¥ ¸  © 9 - Ïk ¨ - χ¤  § ̉¤ ½ ÈÏ¥ ‡£ ¯ ´ a¥ „ © È §  © Bn ® ‡ ¦ ÈÁ−¥ ‡£ - χ¤ - e ¯ a § c © 2 : ¯ ŸÓ « ‡ Ï¥ Bn− ‡ ¦ È ¬ · ¦ ‡ £ - ˙ Èa¥ ˙ Á © ² t © L § Ó ¦ ¼ ÌΤ Ï ¨ · Bh ´ - ‰ Ó © » ÌΤ L § È ´ Ï¥ Ú£ a © - ÏÎ ¨ È  ¥ ¸ Ê § ‡ ¨ a § ‡  º ¨ ÏÚ © a © ½ ¯ ª È § È ´  ¥ a § ÏŸkμ Lȇ À ¦ ÌÈÚ ´ ¦ · § L ¦ ÌΤ ¹ a ¨ ÏŸL ¸ Ó § ‰ © - Èk « ¦ Ìz¤ ¾ ¯ § Î © Ê § e „ Á ® ¨ ‡ ¤ Lȇ ´ ¦ ÌÎ−¤ a ¨ ÏŸL ¬ Ó § - ̇ ¦ Bn ¹ ‡ ¦ - ÈÁ « ¥ ‡£ e ¯ ¸ a § „ © È §  © 3 : È  « ¦ ‡ ¨ ÌÎ−¤ ¯ § N © · § e Ì ¬ Τ Ó¥ ˆ § Ú © - Ïk ¨ ˙ ¬ ‡ ¥ ÌΤ ½ L § È ´ Ï¥ Ú£ a © - Ïk ¨ ÆÈ  ¥ Ê § ‡ ¨ a § ÂÈÏ ¨ À Ú ¨ CϤ Ó¤ ½ È · ¦ ‡ £ È ¯ ´ ¥ Á£ ‡ © ÆÌa ¨ Ï ¦ Ë ³ i¥  © ‰ l¤ ‡ ® ¥ ‰ ¨ ÌÈ ¯ − ¦ · ¨ c § ‰ © ÌÈÚ ´ ¦ · § L ¦ ÆBÏ- e  z § i ¦  © 4 :‡ e‰ « e  ÈÁ ¬ ¦ ‡ ¨ e ¯ − Ó § ‡ ¨ È ¬ k ¦ ̉¤ ¹ a ¨ ¯ Ÿk ¸ N § i ¦  © ˙ È ¯ ® ¦ a § ÏÚ © ´ a © ˙ Èa−¥ Ó ¦ ÛÒ¤ k¤ ½ eÎ− Ï § i¥  © ÌÈÊ ½ ¦ Á£ ŸÙ ´ e ÆÌÈ ˜ ¦ È ¯ ¥ ÌÈL ³ ¦  ¨ ‡ £ CϤ Ó¤ À È · ¦ ‡ £ ‚ Ÿ ¯ º ‰ £ i ©  « © ‰ ˙ ¨ ¯ ½ ¨ Ù § Ú ¨ ÆÂÈ · ¦ ‡ ¨ - ˙ È · ¥ ‡ Ÿ · ³ i ¨  © 5 : ÂÈ ¯ « ¨ Á£ ‡ © - ÏÚ © Lȇ− ¦ ÌÈÚ ¬ ¦ · § L ¦ ÏÚ © ² a © ¯ ª È § - È «  ¥ a § ÂÈÁ ¯ ¨ ‡ ¤ - ˙ ‡ ¤ 8.28 Book   |   Chapter Home  | TOC
