ALTJUDISCHE DENKMÄLER AUS DER KRIM. die Echtheit der von Firkowitsch entdeckten krimschen Denkmäler auf1),  und wieder andere, wie z. B. Bruun, Cuno, J. Derenbourg, Halévy, Levy, Müllenhof, Renan, Spiegel u. s. w. ignoriren diese Monumente ganz und gar2). Es muss also entschieden werden, ob wir hier echtes Gold vor uns haben. Ist dies der Fall, so muss es ganz rückhaltlos benutzt und in die Wissenschaft eingeführt werden; un-sere Ideen über die biblische Chronologie, über die semitische Paläographie, über die Ab-stammung der Skythen, über die 10 Stämme Israels, über den Glauben an die Unsterblich­keit der Seele, über die Geschichte der Krim, über die Chazaren und die chazarischen Ju-den, über die Entwicklung der jüdischen Literatur u. s. w. u. s. w., werden wir dann ganz nach den krimschen Denkmälern umformen müssen; sind es aber freche Fälschungen der neuesten Zeit, so muss die wissenschaftliche Atmosphäre von diesen Miasmen  gereinigt und ihre nochmalige Benutzung der gelehrten Welt unmöglich gemacht werden3).  Ich würde froh sein, wenn die vorliegende Untersuchung zur Entscheidung dieser brennenden Frage beitragen könnte. Ganz ohne Nutzen wird sie indessen nicht sein. Die dort versprochene, aber nicht erschienene Recension des Chwolsonschen Werkes wollte wohl Dereηbourg schreiben. Auch Gosche ( Wiss. Jahres-bericht über die morgenl.
